I bought these black baskets in the Target Dollar Spot. If you'd like a FREE copy of the labels click {HERE.}
Last year I used 2 that looked like this:
I borrowed this pic from http://www.youaremyfave.com/ since I forget to take a pic. |
Do you use dull/sharp baskets? Yes, I have to teach them the vocabulary word dull but rather than avoid it, I embrace it as a teachable moment! I can't stand the sound of the pencil sharpener so I ask parent volunteers to do it in the office or at recess to keep the pencils stocked. I train the kids that they must leave a dull to get a sharp so they don't end up hoarding pencils!
I would also like to announce the winner of my Decoding Strategies Giveaway.
Congrats to Janina!

Thanks for the freebie! I see you have 30 kiddos... is that nomal for you? We are looking at 28/29 this year and I'm used to 21ish. :-( I will be looking to you for inspiration and possibly picking your brain if things get too hairy!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your last 2 weeks... that's what I've got, as well!

Yes, we moved to 30 (k-2) 2 years ago. We were already at 31 in 3-5 before that so I have had 30 for a while now. As you'd expect, you totally feel those extra 10 kids. Good management is the key. I'd be happy to help (or commiserate) if I can.
DeleteI love your blog. I have given you the "One Lovely Blog" Award over on my blog. I would love you to stop by.

I use a rectangular plastic desk pencil box laid open so it's kinda flat. The kids know to put dull pencils in the back/top portion and sharp ones are in the front/bottom.
ReplyDeleteI love the baskets. I cant go into Target without stopping at the dollar area.

I use the dull/sharp labels on my "pencil buckets"... they look like the ones that you used to have, and they drive me nuts when they fall over/don't fit enough pencils.
ReplyDeleteHave you seen the straw dispenser/pencil holders on Pinterest? I would love some of those!
