Valentine's Day Ending Punctuation

I am completely obsessed with Boom cards. Google activities are great but Boom cards give the students immediate feedback and you get a score report so you don't have to grade them!

My latest deck is Valentine's Day Ending Punctuation.

This makes a great Valentine's Day literacy center or February distance learning activity. In this 20 card Boom deck, students will read or listen to each sentence and click the correct ending punctuation. Audio directions and reading of each sentence are included.

Click HERE to see it in my store and remember it is 25% off for the first 24 hours! Don't forget to follow my TpT store (green star) so you never miss out on these sale prices!

100th Day Remote or In Person?

Is your 100th Day celebration coming up? Will it look different this year due to Covid?

If you look back at my blog over the years you will see many cute crafts, crowns, and fruit loop necklaces.

Pro tip: Tape one end of your string to the desk so the cereal doesn't end up all over the floor!

Here is the 100 item counting mat if you are in person and can use it.

If you are celebrating virtually, maybe have some fun with the free app Aging Booth?

Here is a cute picture from EduKate and Inspire as an example.

And you can still read 100th day stories! Do you Zoom? I found some stories on YouTube in case you'd rather have your students listen on their own.

It may look different but I bet you will still make it special for your students.

FREE Color By Code

Planning for Groundhog Day? How about a FREE Color By Code?

This one practices addition and subtraction within 20.

I wanted to make it more colorful but I am one of those people that sticks to reality. I was the child who never colored purple horses, etc. It is the rule follower in me, I guess. I wanted to use tan or different shades of brown at least but I figured most students have the Crayola box of 24 and guess what? Only one shade of brown and no tan. Boring. Next time, I am determined to get colorful!

If you are planning for February, here are a few other items you may want to check out in my store.

Groundhog Facts FREEBIE

Do you a favorite Groundhog Day nonfiction book you like to read? My favorite is by Gail Gibbons. I love all her books.

I record facts on an anchor chart and then have the students pick their favorites to add to their own graphic organizer in preparation for doing some informative writing.

I am currently obsessed with the adorable clip art from Creating4 the Classroom so I made a new cuter graphic organizer that I am sharing with you for FREE!

Gilbert and the Lost Tooth

Did you know that February is Dental Health month?  Gilbert and the Lost Tooth is a great choice to use with guided reading groups or book clubs. I have a great packet to go along with this book.

I love Diane de Groat books, don't you?

Are you distance learning and your student's don't have the book? I updated the packet to include a link to a YouTube reading. I put it through SafeShare.tv to remove the ads and distracting content for your students. I also added a QR code if you would find that easier to assign. If you already own this packet you can download these additions for FREE in your 'My Purchases" page. That is also where you can see all of your past purchases that have been to TpT Digital Activities.

I added this to TpT Digital Activities and got you started by making the text boxes for you. I am curious  what the feedback on the user side has been for TpT Digital Activities? Anyone have thoughts?

Listening Center Upgrade & Digital Version

Students love listening to a story but sometimes I've felt they don't get much out of the response sheets.  I really wanted worksheets that would assess their comprehension and give them a chance to practice all the analysis skills I taught them.

So I starting making a worksheet for each listening center story. Not only are there comprehension questions, but I include different skills such as sequencing events or identifying story elements. I also included differentiated skill-based worksheets aligned to the Common Core. 22 standards by my count.

The QR codes for 24 stories, professionally read by famous actors, have been put through SafeShare.tv so your students are not exposed to ads or other distracting content. QR codes are fun and easy to scan with the camera of a tablet or smartphone. If you have an older device, you may need an app but there are many free ones such as QR Scanner.

I was going to wait until I had 40 done for an entire year but they take a while to make so I figured I'd upload what I had so other teachers could use them this semester. My plan is to keep adding books to this packet. If you buy it now, you will be notified when I update the packet and get the additions for FREE.

Since many of us are distance learning, I have included a digital Google Slides version that can be easily assigned to your remote students. I have also included a link to the stories if your students do not have a device that can read QR codes.

Skills covered include:

•Answering comprehension questions

•Sequencing events

•Determining a word’s meaning

•Identifying story elements

•Telling fiction from nonfiction

•Predicting

•Inferring

•Character analysis

•Identifying cause and effect

•Determining the moral or lesson

•Opinion writing

Books Included:

A Bad Case of Stripes

As Fast as Words Could Fly

Brave Irene

Carla’s Sandwich

Catching the Moon

Chester’s Way

Clark the Shark

Enemy Pie

Guji Guji

FREE Winter Sentence Scrambles

Click HERE to get your free copy from my store.

I hope you had a relaxing break. I was a sloth and it was wonderful. Although I missed my family coming to celebrate the holiday, I did notice that not having a houseful of people constantly underfoot kept my inner Grinch at bay. Normally, accidentally using 4 times the amount of garlic powder in my Christmas gravy would make me feel like I ruined the day. But this year, my husband and I just looked at each other, shrugged, and said, "2020!" I managed to salvage the gravy but then in the craziness we forgot to serve the green beans. How did none of us notice they were missing until we were cleaning up? "2020!"

Wishing everyone a great start to 2021!
