Snail Study

Today we read this book and pretended to be snails which the kids thought was very fun!
Then we took we learned and labeled a giant snail I had made.

Then the students went back to their seat to see if they could label the snail diagram on their own (or with a little partner help if needed.)

How to Cook a Turkey

We made a class book called How to Cook a Turkey. Some of these entries cracked me up! I then made a copy for each family and sent it home for the holiday.

Cranberry sauce?

I thought asking if the kids liked cranberry sauce would make a good bar graph. I was very surprised at how many of them had never tried it! So, of course I brought some in and we had a taste test.

If You Sailed on the Mayflower...

We read a few different books about the Mayflower and the students were SO interested! Did you know that when the water went bad even the kids had to drink beer?! We then each got a suitcase to list what we would take with us on the Mayflower. These were pretty funny. My favorite was probably.... my mom's iphone. :-) To top it off we made Pilgrim hats. SO CUTE!!! Wish I could take credit for these great ideas but they came from my favorite 1st grade blog first grade parade! Thanks for the inspiration!!!
