FREE Digital Penguin Making Words Activity

Could you use a free, fun penguin-themed digital activity?

Students love to compete to see how many words they can create from the letters in the word 'penguins.' This is a Google Slide in which the letters can be manipulated and text boxes have already been made for the students to enter their words.

Food Chain and Freebies

We learned about the food chain in science this week.  Every student got to make an interactive model (based on nesting dolls) which illustrated the concept perfectly!
The students LOVED making the animals "eat" the next animal (or grass) in the chain. It comes with lids to keep all the pieces together once it is nested. You can order your own set from Nature Watch.

My freebie today is more seasonal making words sheets. I haven't introduced these yet but I have some smarties than I know are capable.

Springtime Making Words

I have one student in particular who goes crazy for these making words sheets. He came up with 45 words from LEPRECHAUN! I've got to keep his smartie brain challenged so here is another one:

Leprechaun Making Words

Wouldn't be a holiday without a making words sheet from me. :-) The letters on the bottom can be cut out and manipulated. Let's see if my Sam can beat his score of 23 with this one!

Presidents' Day Making Words

You can download Presidents' Day Making Words here. I am hoping I see some contractions!
I use these as enrichment for early finishers. To encourage them I made a Word Wizards bulletin board where I put up their hard work. I record the total number of words they correctly made but I fold the paper so others can't copy their words. They love it when I announce, "Ooo...Sam has 12 already." Keeps the others motivated to try to fill their page. Notice 18 lines is not enough for Sam!

Groundhog making words

Here is a Groundhog making words activity I made. I usually put these out as an early finisher activity and challenge the students to see who can fill it. Occasionally I'll announce, "Oh, WOW, I see Caden has 12 already..." and that really spurs them on. ;-) The letters on the bottom can be cut out and manipulated. New Words in the New Year

I am usually addicted to school work but I made a real effort to not work over the last week to give myself a break and recharge. Well... I did too good a job! I neglected my blog for a whole week (gasp) and my creative juices are clogged rather than flowing.   I did note before break that my early finishers were getting bored with the weekly word searches so I made this making words activity.

They can cut the letters off the bottom to manipulate. I know some of my higher students will take on the challenge!
