OUCH!

My life has been baseball play-offs (2 boys=2 teams) and report cards this week.
We had some extra excitement when my 8 year-old took a baseball to the face.
He was a trooper and still played in the game to help his team win!

We are having crazy cold weather in northern CA. I was wearing a sweatshirt, jacket, Uggs, and 2 blankets and I STILL froze at the game tonight!!!

I can't believe tomorrow is our last day of school.
I can't seem to get my head around planning what to do tomorrow.
We already cleaned out our desks. We saw a movie for our party today since it was rainy here.
I have 2 1/2 hours to fill.
Ideas?

  1. Hi- I am glad to see your son is ok! We had our last day with students yesterday. We did a combination of crafty centers (playdough, water color etc) with game centers (uno, candyland, chutes and ladders, cooties) and fun centers (puzzles, lincoln logs). With 36 1st graders, we needed that many centers in order to have small groups. Of course it downpoured yesterday so we didn't have a chance to have a recess. Good Luck!

  2. Hi Jenn!
I, too, am glad to see your son was a-okay. Playing ball is dangerous! :)

On our last day, I only had 10 students so I brought out play-doh, math manipulatives, and an interactive CD I played on the smart board. That activity alone took an entire hour. Factor in time to eat a sack lunch and an early dismissal and we called it a day. Hope that's helpful! Leslie

  3. I love to do games with them....Musical Chairs, Doggy Doggy Who's Got Your Bones, Hide the Block, etc. One year we had a hoola hoop competition. We had 3 compete at a time. Then hoola hoop champions from each round competed with each other. Minute to Win It games are fun too.

  4. My kids love helping me go through toys and other bins and make sure that everything is in the right spot. Last year we did that for about an hour and then played old-fashioned games...duck, duck goose; simon says; freeze dancing, etc. We also had a sing-a-thon and went back and sang all the songs we had sung all year long. It was a fun and relaxing last 1/2 day.
